Quick update - trip to J-boro

Amigos, familia...sorry it's been so long since we've updated the blog. We actually have a lot of photos and videos...but I'm skim'n through em really quick to find the best ones.

I'm on my 4th Sam Adam's Octoberfest (great beer) and jam'n to some Ricky Naranjo y los Gamblers (if you follow the link...skip the "hip hop" version and save yourself a headache...go straight to the cumbia's and rancheras) -- oh yeah...si señor!!

Here we go -- the pics below are from our trip up north to Jacksboro, TX (430 miles...one way from our new home Corpitos...I mean, Corpus Christi, TX):

A video and pics of the Casas family heading to Corpus Christi

Here are some cool pics and a great video that Shelley captured during our ride from Austin to Corpus Christi.

Video of Graciela meeting Genevieve for the 1st time

As promised...here is the video - it's a bit long 1:38 - so it may take a while to load...

This was Monday, Aug 25 at the Ronald McDonald House

Again - thanks to Abuela, Nelda B, for helping us out with Grace!

Here's the video:

Thanks for all the help familia and friends...

Aaron -- yeah, the poker guy -- I knew I could count on you bro. Thanks for coming out and helping me clear out the storage building.

G - thank you as well for helping me out packing up that big ol uhaul truck!

Thank you Aimee for the great grub you cooked up for us Friday night!

Dell - our lovely neighbor and adopted grandma - we love you. Thank you for all you did for us: taking care of our dogs, our house, our belongings...etc...

Corey and Melissa - Thanks again for coming through for us during such a stressful time!

Papa Ken (Kendall) and Glo (Gloria) - thanks for coming down over and over to help us out. You guys and Corey & Melissa were great -- thanks for "literally" going the extra mile (all the way to 78412) to help us pack and unpack!

Cho-che (George) and Becca - thanks for helping us unpack!

Dad and Laura - Thank for not only helping us unpack and getting us some drinks during the hot summer night.

And of course...Abuela - Mom - Nelda B -- thank you for not only helping us unpack, but also for "baby sitting" Grace while we Shelley and I "roomed in" with Genevieve. Thanks for "rooming in" with us during our first few nights here in CC -- we really appreciate your help!

Thank you ALL!!!!

I feel like I'm forgetting someone...and I know I did...so please forgive me if I did. I gotta hit the sack...Genevieve is up for a feeding in about 1.5 hours...then again every 3 hours...so sleep is very much needed...

OH - and we see our NEW pediatrician tomorrow -- pray that goes well!

ni-night...

Update on Genevieve & move to CC

Howdy ya'll - sorry it's been a while..we've been VERY busy.

Genevieve is doing great. She was given the OK to leave the hospital on Saturday...but Shelley and I, along with a ton of help (those thanks will come later in another post), were moving all our junk from 7101 Lilac Ln, 78745 to CC, TX, 78412.

We rented a HUGE 26 foot truck, literally filled it up to the TOP...and I STILL had to get another 5x8 trailer the next day to pick up the last minute stuff.

Shelley and I "roomed in" at the hospital on Sunday night and we brought Genevieve to CC, TX on Monday night.

Feel free to email me directly for our new mailing address.

Graciela is doing great - if I have time later this week I'll post the video of her when she first met her baby sister.

We close on the house this Friday -- everything seems to be going good...so let's keep your prayers up and hope everything goes through just fine.

We still have about 50 boxes pilled up in our game room here in CC, TX -- so we have a lot of work to do...that and our grass is higher than Chata! So I have some mowing to do...

Bueno...I'll try to post some pics later this week...

peace out,

still no pics...however, baby is good!

Sorry guys...the pics are just a bit too private to publish on the web. In the NICU it's just not the same as if the baby is in your room or in the nursery...so ya'll are gonna have to wait! :)

If I take a good one that I just HAVE to share...this will be the first place I publish it.

A good update though - Genevieve is doing very good. She started eating normal (breast milk) food today. She seems to be doing really well in both our eyes and the nurses' & doctors' eyes. Still no ETA on when she'll go home...but Shelley has been officially discharged. She and I will be going home tomorrow.

I'll do my best to keep ya'll posted via the blog...for now...I have to go wash some dishes (long story...and unless you've had a baby...you would have no idea what I mean...so anyway).

Gotta run...peace out ya'll,

Sorry no new pics...I'll try tomorrow

Day 2 -- Genevieve is doing great ya'll. She's still in the NICU, but she's "borderline" on being considered a "premature baby" versus a normal "newborn" -- according to her nurse this evening.

I'm sorry I don't have any pics today -- I had so much family and friends come by today -- thank you all for the gifts and well wishes! Thank you Shari, Dad (Vic Jr), and Laura for the nice gifts. Thank you Becca for bringing my lovely mother and all the rest of the clan.

I was so busy entertaining folks that Shelley and I hardly had more than 15 minutes to nap and only about 20 minutes together with Genevieve.

I hope and plan to get some good pics tomorrow and I promise to post as soon as I get a chance.

We're still unsure as to "when we'll get outta here" -- but I'll keep ya'll posted.

Peace out,
~Vc3

Shout out to some important folks...

I'd like to give a quick "shout out" (HEY!) to some folks who helped us out today...the day Genevieve came into this world.

Thank you Corey and Melissa for taking care of Graciela -- we appreciate you picking her up and taking care of her this evening

Dell - Thanks for taking care of our first two kids - Chata and Ozo!

Gloria and Kendall - Thanks for coming south so quickly! We sincerely appreciate it!

G, Aimee and Valeria
- Thank you for the nice card, roses and awesome "es una niña" balloon!

And last but certainly not least...SASSY! Thank you Sandra the food!! It was very much needed in my big belly :)

Peace out amigo...daddy is going ni-nite...

Genevieve Maria is born!

Yup...apparently Genevieve did NOT want to be born in Corpus Christi...but in Austin, just like Graciela.

Why Genevieve (pronounced Jenna-Veev) Maria? We like Jenna...but we thought Genevieve was more unique. Maria is after my grandmother, Maria Casas :)

[Sorry - pic was taken down - we'll post more when we get out of the hospital]

New Videos of Grace

I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to post some new pics...we're still trying to sell the house (although, we are starting to re-think this move to CC)...and with Shelley prego again...it's been busy!

Last Friday, July 25 - I found some time to take Grace out to the Austin Children's Museum in downtown Austin. Here's a video of her playing with some golf balls.

Today I got a good video of Grace playing with Ozo - at the very end Shelley comes in to show off baby #2 - check it out:
